The Department of Neurology at Banner - University Medicine Tucson is actively interviewing board-certified/eligible Vascular Neurologists to join our clinical faculty and multidisciplinary stroke team. This is a unique opportunity within a rapidly growing academic neuroscience program at Banner University Medical Center Tucson and the University of Arizona. Our 649-bed hospital is located at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center and is the only Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Southern Arizona, having been nationally recognized for providing exceptional patient care, educating the next generation of healthcare providers, and conducting groundbreaking research. Our Comprehensive Stroke Center has a dedicated Neurocritical Care unit and stroke services along with state-of-the-art imaging and an active clinical trials research program.
Position Overview:
The selected individual will have oversight of the clinical, educational, and Joint Commission certification aspects of the stroke program as the Stroke Medical Director/Stroke Fellowship Program Director for our Primary Stroke Center. Responsibility to attend to the inpatient dedicated stroke service while staffing the outpatient stroke clinics (the stroke team includes neurology residents, stroke fellows, and a stroke Nurse Practitioner). High level of close collaboration with the neurocritical care team, vascular neurosurgery/neurointervention, neuroradiology, neurorehabilitation services, neuroscience nursing, and stroke coordinators. The position will include teaching and academic activities as well as opportunities to participate in clinical research. Protected research time may also be available depending on the candidate's background, training, and interests. The successful candidate will have a full appointment within the Department of Neurology.
