Job Overview – MedSurg/Telemetry RN (6W Unit) | Chesapeake, VA

Location

• City: Chesapeake, Virginia

• Region: Coastal Virginia  

• Lifestyle: Outdoor paradise with hiking trails and 20+ waterways for exploration

Assignment Details

• Shift: Nights (weekdays, every other weekend, holidays, and float within contract)

• Schedule Options:

  • 3x12s (36 hours/week)

  • 4x12s (48 hours/week) → OT paid after 48 hours

• Start Date: ASAP

Patient & Unit Details

• Patient Population: MedSurg/Telemetry with a focus on neurology and stroke patients

• Environment: Fast-paced, telemetry-monitored floor with mixed acuity

Requirements

• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years MedSurg/Tele experience

  • Travel experience required 

• Certifications:

  • BLS – American Heart Association

  • ACLS – American Heart Association

  • NIHSS – required

• Licensure:

  • Compact or VA RN license – must be in hand (no pending or temporary licenses)

• System Proficiency:

  • EPIC experience required – no exceptions

• Required Skills:

  • IV start competency

  • Telemetry interpretation

  • Neurology/stroke patient care experience

Compliance

• Documents Required for Submission:

  • Qualivis Cover Sheet (with all RTO listed)

  • Current NURSYS Report

• Facility Policy: Chesapeake will not consider any license or background hits — ensure candidate meets clean credentialing standards.

Additional Info

• Shift Differential: Included per facility policy

• Floating: Required as needed to similar units

• Holiday Coverage: Required within contract
