SUMMARY
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assumes the responsibility for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician in the patient care area.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Has considerable knowledge of the care and treatment of patients and special procedures that apply to practical nursing.
2. Performs direct nursing functions under the supervision of a RN or Physician.
3. Administers medication as ordered by Physician.
4. Collaborates with other health care providers and provides education to patients and/or families (while in compliance with HIPAA).
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for attending staff meeting as evident by 70% attendance to ensure that necessary information is received.
2. Attends in-services and mandatory meetings.
3. Adheres to the dress code attendance and all other company policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
2. Current LPN licensure for the State of Alabama.
3. Current CPR or BLS certification preferred.
4. Proficient oral and written communication skills.
5. One year experience as a LPN in a clinic setting preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. May be exposed to the risk of communicable diseases and radiation.
2. May require handling of unclean or infectious materials.
3. Normally works in a well-lighted well ventilated area.
4. Must be able to work under the stress and conditions that normally exist in a clinic setting.
5. Classification Category I Tasks that involve exposure to blood bodily fluids or tissues.
