Position: E-commerce Sales and Digital Media Instructor
Status: Part-Time/ Non-exempt
Reports to: Economic Empowerment Program Manager

The Korean American Family Service Center, Inc. (KAFSC) is a leading non-profit organization assisting women, children, and families in the New York tri-state area in recognizing and eliminating relationship violence and abuse. Our counseling, education, advocacy, and support services help individuals empower themselves to build safe and healthy relationships based on mutual respect, compassion, and dignity. Each year, over 3,000 individuals benefit from one or more services that we provide. All our services are culturally sensitive, linguistically appropriate, and free.

Position Summary:
KAFSC is seeking a patient, enthusiastic, and tech-savvy instructor to teach our E-commerce Sales and Digital Media course on selling handmade products through online platforms. The ideal candidate will guide non-native English-speaking adults with low-intermediate computer skills through every step of creating an Etsy shop, branding products, taking and editing photos, and writing product descriptions.

The instructor will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging, hands-on lessons tailored to the needs of adult learners breaking down technical tasks into easy-to-follow steps and helping students build confidence in selling their handmade products online.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver over 10 weeks of engaging lessons on Etsy selling, including:
• ○ Shop setup and navigation ○ Product photography and photo editing
• ○ Branding, writing product descriptions, and pricing
• ○ Listing products and Etsy SEO basics
• ○ Shipping, customer service, and basic marketing strategies
• Design and prepare detailed lesson plans, presentation slides, and instructional worksheets for each class session
• Collaborate with the Economic Empowerment team to develop and deliver student-centered, engaging curriculum
• Provide hands-on support for students during in-class exercises
• Offer constructive feedback on student work (photos, listings, descriptions)
• Assist students in troubleshooting technical issues with computers or Etsy
• Encourage students to practice skills independently and track progress
• Adapt teaching methods to accommodate learners with varying computer skills
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that encourages confidence, participation, and digital independence.
• Participate in program-related planning meetings, events, and team activities, contributing to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of instructional strategies and outcomes.

Demonstrated Skills:

• Ability to create instructional slide presentations that help students navigate and understand course material.
• Comfortable teaching basic computer use, internet navigation, and online platforms
• Ability to manage lesson plans and guide students through weekly exercises
• Able to advise students on product branding, photography, and visual presentation
• Can troubleshoot student issues and offer practical solutions
• Enthusiasm for adult education and serving underserved communities

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of Etsy and online selling practices
• Experience in handmade arts, crafts, or small product sales preferred
• Comfortable with photography, photo editing, and basic graphic tools (e.g., Canva, Pixlr, adobe)
• Prior teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience preferred
• Excellent communication skills and patience with beginner learners
• Ability to create a supportive, hands-on, and engaging classroom environment
• Bachelor’s degree in a related or equivalent field preferred.
• Korean language proficiency preferred

Compensation & Start Date

• Salary : $30.00 per hour
• Start Date: January 2026
• Schedule: 4 hours/week, *days and exact hours to be determined based on semester schedule and/or student needs*
